Ficquelmont Spins Gem, Miami Wins
|
Starting pitcher Elza Ficquelmont gave the Miami Cyclones a rock-solid effort. The Valencia, Venezuela native helped his team defeat the Philadelphia Spectres, 2-1, at Kroger Stadium. The Cyclones go to 34-35, putting them third in the Eastern Conference Antonio Detorres Division.
Ficquelmont's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 5 strikeouts in 6.1 innings while allowing 1 hit. Ficquelmont, who finished 2nd in the WC in innings pitched with 216.1 in 2076, goes to 4-6 on the year with 66 strikeouts.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Cyclones manager Chris Stephan. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
