The Houston Aquas defeated the Chicago Phantoms, 5-3, in Western Conference action at Tesoro Stadium. Houston pitcher Yasuhiro Katayama had a standout performance. The winner was Katayama. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Taisei Yamamoto. Danny Mathews wrapped it up, recording his 12th save.

Houston right fielder Marco Feron contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 79th hit of the season and put the Aquas ahead, 4-0.

Katayama attributed the win to his team's "determination."
