Avispas Rally Late to Clip Brooklyn

The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Santiago fans at Estadio Guillermón Moncada.
The Santiago Avispas outlasted the Brooklyn Browns, 4-3, in 10 innings. Paul Rees led the way, going 3-for-3 for Santiago. The win belonged to Fidel Flores in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Kevin Broomhead took the loss for Brooklyn.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Santiago shortstop Luis Valera, facing Kevin Broomhead, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Avispas the 4-3 win.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Rees told the Santiago Gazette. "But we take nothing for granted."
The Avispas saw their win-loss record go to 34-36. At the same time, the Browns fell to 37-33.
