Titans Winners, 2-1, Over Senators
|
The New York Titans picked up a win at Polo Grounds II, taking down the Washington Senators, 2-1. Starting pitcher Shane Pursley was a big reason why. Pursley, now 3-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. New York is now 54-20.
Calvin Ilk had a big run-scoring double for the Titans in the bottom of the second inning. With New York leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a knuckle curve from Hawk Hartshorn, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2075 draft, and swatted a double to left. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Titans ahead, 2-0.
Pursley pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
