Friars Win, 5-3, Versus Seattle
|
The San Francisco Friars had to overcome a fine effort from Seattle pitcher Hajime Ito to win, 5-3, at Power Ballpark. Ito went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Salvatore Pino earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 5-1. San Francisco is now 32-43, Seattle 38-36.
Jose Laza came through with a big-time hit for San Francisco. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We did enough to win," said Laza.
