Houston pitcher Yasuhiro Katayama had a large part in his team beating the Las Vegas Aces, 5-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Katayama yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-7. Picking up the save was Danny Mathews. He's now 14 for 15 in save chances.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Angel Ulloa? The Houston catcher had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Aquas on top, 4-0. For the game, Ulloa had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Katayama told the Houston Observer.
The Aquas move to 31-44 with the win, while the Aces drop to 39-35.
