The Phoenix Thunderbirds picked up a win at Legednary Park, taking down the Los Angeles Stars, 4-3, in 14 innings. On the mound for Phoenix was right-hander Jay Barrientos. He played a central role in the triumph. David Klontz earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. The third-place Thunderbirds have a record of 39-37.

The decisive blow was delivered by Kazuyoshi Fujii in the bottom of the 14th when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old left-handed pitcher Ethan Davis to win the game for Phoenix. The home crowd went nuts.
