Gaedels Squelch Titans Offense in Shutout Win
St. Louis pitcher Ji-an Chan did his part in helping his team defeat the New York Titans, 4-0. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The winning pitcher was Chan, now 6-2. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 2. The win for the Gaedels raised their record to 40-34.

Dioelis Acebal had a big 2-run double for the Gaedels in the bottom of the second inning. With St. Louis leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from fireballing right-hander Kohji Yoshihara and swatted a double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gaedels ahead, 3-0.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said New York skipper Nate Beckman, "and it cost us."
