Cincinnati Dealt 5-0 Defeat
|
St. Louis Gaedels pitcher Luis Espiricueta was in top form, leading his team past the Cincinnati Twins, 5-0. Espiricueta yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 7-6. The Gaedels, at 34-42, sit in third place in the Eastern Conference Rex Rawnsley Division.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of Alex Artiaga to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Gaedels on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Luis was strictly business," said St. Louis field general Mak Dolnick.
