The Buffalo Rangers had to overcome a fine effort from Havana pitcher Alex Zapien to win, 3-1, at Estadio Latinoamericano. Zapien went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Julius Miller picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 2-0. The win puts the Rangers at 46-30, while the Metropolitanos drop to 36-40.
Matty Hrinko came through with a big-time hit for Buffalo. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Hrinko attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
