Avispas Post 4-1 Win
|
The Santiago Avispas picked up a win at Mount Royal Park, topping the Montreal Harfangs, 4-1. On the mound for Santiago was right-hander Elmo Fasanaro. He played a principal role in the triumph. Earning the save was Buddy Verveer. He's now cashed in 7 of 13 save opportunities. The loss makes Montreal 43-32.
Gabe Castro, who is tied for 7th in the EC with a .987 OPS, took Montreal hurler Les Ralph deep in the top of the second. His solo home run put the Avispas on top, 1-0. In all, Castro had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Castro told the Santiago Gazette.
