The Kansas City Athletics topped the Tucson Toros, 6-3, in Western Conference action at Aetna Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Kansas City pitcher and Zaza del Medio, Cuba, native Eduardo Leon. Leon picked up the win for Kansas City, going 5 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. Kansas City used a well-timed hit by Tom Schwartzmiller to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

In comments to the Kansas City Daily News, Leon insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
