Los Angeles turned a good effort from starter Roberto Davila into a win over the Phoenix Thunderbirds at Legednary Park. The Stars won the game, 5-2. The winner was Davila. He threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Aaron Kopta. Raiko Leon notched his 15th save of the season.

Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Martyn Gheldere to capture the win. The third baseman socked a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Stars ahead, 5-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers. "That's what Roberto is right now."

The Stars now have a mark of 42-36.
