Athletics Post 6-5 Win Over Phoenix
|
Alex Guilzar did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Phoenix Thunderbirds from being beaten, 6-5, to the Kansas City Athletics at Legednary Park. Guilzar went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Kansas City, with the win, climbs to 22-55.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Brandon Russell was at the plate when Kansas City scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Athletics to go in front, 6-5.
"I know we have our doubters," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
