Kodiaks Nose Past Portland, 6-5

The Kodiaks grabbed a win, 6-5, at Tundradome, overcoming a fine effort from Portland pitcher Yahya Kanoro. Kanoro went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Alaska reliever Xiang-ling Khoo picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Charlie Petipas took the loss. The Kodiaks, at 49-28, sit in first place in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jae-ho Choe in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Charlie Petipas to win the game for Alaska. The home crowd went nuts.
"The ending was a real humdinger," Choe told reporters after the game.
