Minneapolis first baseman Carlos Dorame was sensational. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Phoenix beat the Vikings, 9-5. The winner was Les Ralph, who threw 92 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 4 hits. The third-place Thunderbirds improved to 41-38.

Kazuyoshi Fujii had a big run-scoring triple for the Thunderbirds in the top of the sixth inning. With Phoenix leading 5-3 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Joseph Stark and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunderbirds ahead, 6-3.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Fujii told the Phoenix Daily.
