The Vancouver Wolves got a superb performance from center fielder Dave Castanon, but the San Francisco Friars still won the game, 7-6. Castanon was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Roger Calzada got the save, his 12th in 14 chances. The third-place Friars now sit at 38-42.

The Friars benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the fifth. With Tim Valencia at bat and San Francisco leading 6-2, the Vancouver miscue allowed San Francisco to plate 1 and take the lead, 7-2.

"There's still time to turn this season around," said Valencia.
