Destroyers first baseman Tsuneteru Shimada put his stamp on his team's 6-0 win over the Portland Dragons. Shimada was 2-3 with 2 home runs for San Diego in the contest. At 47-33, the Destroyers claim first place in the Western Conference Eric Wise Division.

Jose Gonzales, who finished 4th in the WC in batting average with .318 last year, took Portland hurler Wil Campos deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Destroyers on top, 2-0. In all, Gonzales had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"This game will humble you real quick," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
