Markosiants Now 8-5 After Beating Wolves
|
San Francisco and Vancouver duked it out and the Friars came out victorious.
The San Francisco Friars beat the Vancouver Wolves, 3-1, at Staples Field. Lyalya Markosiants, who is tied for 9th in the WC in quality starts with 9, starred for San Francisco. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The Friars now have a record of 39-42 with the win over Vancouver.
It was a masterful performance from the popular Markosiants, who notched 7 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 5 hits. Markosiants, who is a three-time All-Star, goes to 8-5 on the year with 79 strikeouts.
In postgame remarks, Markosiants hailed his team's "single-minded focus."
