The Minneapolis Vikings beat the Los Angeles Stars, 3-0. Minneapolis pitcher and Warren, Michigan, native Travis Sasson led the way. Phil Payne, credited with the save, is now 20 for 25 in save opportunities. Minneapolis is now 41-42, Los Angeles 39-43.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Osbiel Borrero came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Jimmy Oyola, he hit a 2-0 knuckleball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Minneapolis on top, 2-0.

"I have a really good team behind me," Sasson said. "I trust them 100 percent."
