Avispas Lose as Kings Stage Late Rally
|
In a close game at Estadio Guillermón Moncada, the Baltimore Kings edged the Santiago Avispas, 5-4, in 10 innings. Baltimore catcher Alex Vital stood apart with his performance. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Baltimore reliever Mark Sanderson picked up the win to move to 5-3. Buddy Verveer suffered the loss. Ocean Mendoza recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 18 for 19.
Er Hsiao came through with a big-time hit for Baltimore. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I'll play 10 innings, I'll play 20," said Kings manager Brad Carpenter. "Whatever it takes to win the ballgame."
The 4th-place Kings lifted their record to 36-50.
