Lobster Suffer 7-0 Home Defeat
|
The exploits of second baseman DeMario Custodio, who is tied for 8th in the WC in total bases with 167, helped the San Francisco Friars defeat the Maine Lobster, 7-0. Custodio was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times. Kevin Voda, 4-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. After today's action, San Francisco sits at 38-47; Maine slips to 27-57.
Lyalya Markosiants had a big 2-run home run for the Friars in the top of the third inning. With San Francisco leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Slider Brooks, who is tied for 5th in the EC with a 1.15 WHIP, and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Friars on top, 3-0.
Custodio told the San Francisco Herald: "I was born for the big stage."
