The St. Louis Gaedels got a hard-earned win over the Santiago Avispas, 8-3, in 10 innings. Dave Castanon provided some offensive muscle for St. Louis. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. The win was credited to Frank Hubert in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Tony Ruiz took the loss. The result might have been different, had it not been for 29-year old first baseman Tsuneteru Shimada. Shimada had a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Gaedels ahead, 5-3. For the game, Shimada had 1 double and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.
