Thanks in large part to catcher Merlin Garbie, the Buffalo Rangers clipped the Portland Dragons, 7-5, in 11 innings. Garbie went 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Buffalo reliever Carlos Palafox was the winner. His record is now 8-3. Abel Downey took the loss. The Rangers improved their record to 52-35 by beating Portland.

The decisive blow was delivered by Cole Hickey in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run home run off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Jose Contreras to win the game for Buffalo. The home crowd went nuts.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Hickey said in his postgame press conference.
