Late Offense Lifts Kansas City to 6-2 Victory
|
Denver got a valiant performance from pitcher Taxi Sabala, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kansas City Athletics. Kansas City won the game, 6-2. Sabala threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The Glaciers, now 41-46, have lost 4 in a row.
Had Duviel Zaldivar not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Zaldivar hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Athletics.
"That's what I love about baseball," said Zaldivar. "No matter how good or how bad you did, you get to wake up the next day and start all over."
