Late Heroics Net Greens 4-2 Win
|
The Boston Greens faced a tenacious opponent in Washington pitcher Monte Haworth, but still scratched out a win at Arrington Park by a final score of 4-2 in 10 innings. Haworth went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Boston reliever Miko Hakala picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Chris McHargue took the loss. With the win, Boston has a record of 49-38. Washington falls to 39-50.
Boston got a knockout punch from Eddie Simon. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Sometimes you get the ball in the right spot and it goes," said Simon.
