Miami Topples Cincinnati, 5-2
|
Cincinnati got a decent performance from pitcher Ken Wellon, but it wasn't enough to beat the Miami Cyclones. Miami won the Kroger Stadium contest, 5-2. Wellon threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Miami reliever Taju Fuhuoh picked up the win, raising his record to 5-1. Ken Wellon was tagged with the loss. Picking up his 3rd save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Nestor Fajardo.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from second baseman Tarou Deguchi. For the game, Deguchi went 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 9th double of the season gave Miami a 3-2 lead.
"At least I did my job," Deguchi said.
The win gives Miami a season record of 45-43.
