Spectres Rally to Nose Past Houston
|
The Philadelphia Spectres spoiled a good performance by Houston third baseman Manny Venzor, bumping off Houston, 9-8, at Sony Field at Philadelphia. Venzor was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The win was credited to John Frye in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Victor Romero took the loss. Houston has now lost 4 straight.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Philadelphia catcher Che Gainza, facing Victor Romero, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Spectres the 9-8 win.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Gainza said.
