The San Francisco Friars defeated the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 11-5, in Western Conference action at Staples Field. Colin Cuyler pulled his weight. The 9-year veteran went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The first-place Friars have won 5 in a row.

DeMario Custodio had a big 2-run double for the Friars in the bottom of the seventh inning. With San Francisco leading 6-5 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Danny Reyes and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Friars ahead, 8-5.

"This team is real focused right now," said San Francisco manager Erich Weatherholt.
