Kansas City Falls Again, 3-1
|
The San Diego Destroyers got a stellar performance from pitcher Bob Castillo, who handcuffed the Kansas City offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Ballpark of Missouri. Castillo picked up the win for San Diego, going 5 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 7-9. Justin Lea got credit for the save for San Diego. It was his 3rd of the year.
Tucker Adrian, who is tied for 10th in the WC with a .387 on-base percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Adrian contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put San Diego up, 1-0.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said San Diego skipper Steve Alstadt.
The last-place Destroyers have won 5 in a row.
