Houston first baseman Ruben Escobar played a vital role in his team's 7-4 conquest of Minneapolis. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Houston. Reliever Manny Arango picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Santos Gomez took the loss. Danny Mathews earned the save, his 17th in 18 tries.
Escobar had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 curveball from Katsuo Nozawa, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Aquas a 6-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Escobar.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Escobar.
