Vikings Suffer 7-3 Home Defeat
|
The Alaska Kodiaks picked up a win at Minneapolis Grounds, dropping the Minneapolis Vikings, 7-3. Pablo Alvarez, who finished 5th in the WC in strikeouts with 206 last year, was the difference-maker. The winning pitcher was Alvarez, now 6-4. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Minneapolis, at 44-46, has lost 4 straight.
Alaska used a well-timed hit by Eddie Kelly to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Kodiaks ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Alvarez.
