Kodiaks Squeeze By Minneapolis, 4-3
|
The Alaska Kodiaks picked up a win at Minneapolis Grounds, knocking off the Minneapolis Vikings, 4-3, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher John Rochford played a key role in the triumph. Alaska reliever Eddie Izurieta picked up the win, while Phil Payne took the loss for Minneapolis. The losing streak for Minneapolis has now reached 5 games.
Alaska used the timely hitting of Tat Xú to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Kodiaks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We had a good game plan," Rochford said, "and we were able to execute it."
