The Denver Glaciers used the hitting of first baseman Ko Kuroda to subdue the Tucson Toros, 5-2. For the game, Kuroda went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Taxi Sabala was the winner. He's now 8-5. The loser was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Felix Talamantez. Denver is now 44-48, while Tucson is 52-40.
Taiji Taira went 2 for 4 with 2 singles for Denver. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Felix Talamantez. It was his 26th RBI of the season.
Denver manager Todd Bleess was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
