Greens Sunk by Titans
|
The New York Titans defeated the Boston Greens, 6-4. Right Fielder Zahi Cobo deserved a large share of the credit. Cobo went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Titans. Gil Eckenroth got the win, improving to 5-3. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Nick Tamulevich earned the save, his 2nd, for the Titans.
Second Baseman Anaximander McKay made an impact for New York, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Gerald Tanton in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, McKay went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk.
"I keep finding places to plunk down base hits," said Cobo.
The second-place Greens dropped to 52-39.
