The San Diego Destroyers pinned a convincing loss on the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 11-3, at Seaward Stadium. Vance Kitchen was a main factor in the win. He was 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for San Diego. The win lifted the San Diego record to 55-41.

Kitchen had a key at-bat for San Diego in the bottom of the second. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and gave San Diego an early 3-0 lead.

"We hit the ball on the barrel," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt.
