Athletics Collect 6-3 Win Over Destroyers
The Kansas City Athletics in 12 innings downed the San Diego Destroyers, 6-3, at Seaward Stadium. Phil Owens led the way, going 3-for-4 for Kansas City. Mike Flores, now 5-2, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. The victory makes Kansas City 28-69.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for David Tello? The 26-year old second baseman Tello stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put Kansas City up, 4-3. For the game, he was 4 for 6, including 1 double and 3 singles.

Kansas City manager Joe Monagle commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
