Dragons Lose, 4-1, to Phoenix
|
Due in large part to right fielder Lucas Pamatz, the Phoenix Thunderbirds sunk the Portland Dragons, 4-1. Pamatz was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. Yeniet Miranda earned the win to go to 6-9. He allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. The second-place Thunderbirds bumped their record to 52-49.
Phoenix used a well-timed hit by Min-yul Lee to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"Makes our job easier," said Pamatz, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
