The St. Louis Gaedels clobbered the Santiago Avispas, 11-2, at Veeck Park. Leading the onslaught was Luke Zakharov. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for St. Louis. Diego Solis, the winner, improved to 4-5. He held Santiago to 1 run on 3 hits over 6.2 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. The victory gives St. Louis a record of 53-48.

Lanny Tabares had a big 2-run double for the Gaedels in the bottom of the fifth inning. With St. Louis leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Satoru Sugimoto, who is tied for 3rd in the EC in quality starts with 11, and swatted a double to right. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gaedels ahead, 4-1.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Santiago manager Jacob Pauly. "They smoked us."
