Great Effort by Markosiants Wasted in 12-8 Friars Loss
San Francisco catcher Lyalya Markosiants was sensational. He was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Maine beat the Friars, 12-8. Jesus Loyola notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-1. Maine now owns a record of 32-71.

Maine used a timely hit from Carlos Sosa to get the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lobster ahead, 9-8. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We got the victory," said Sosa. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
