The Houston Aquas weathered an outstanding game by Chicago shortstop Andres Trevino to topple the Phantoms, 5-4. Trevino went 1 for 2 with a triple and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Reliever Danny Mathews picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Cruz Ponce, who finished 3rd in the WC in saves with 28 in 2081, took the loss. The Phantoms, now 4-11, continue their inauspicious start.

Houston took a 5-4 lead on Craig Lightsey's 4th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Lightsey hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Chicago pitcher Adrian Portuondo visibly frustrated.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Chicago manager Sam J. "But we decided not to take it."
