Victory Takes Vikings to 16-6
|
The Minneapolis Vikings beat the Miami Cyclones, 4-1, at Minneapolis Grounds. Starting pitcher Frank Macias was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Macias picked up the win for Minneapolis, going 5.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. Zee-loo Kim, who finished 2nd in the WC in saves with 31 in 2081, earned the save for Minneapolis.
Sam Cone had a big 2-run double for the Vikings in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Minneapolis leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a sinker from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Sposato and swatted a double to right. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vikings ahead, 3-0.
Cone attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
The Vikings, now 16-6, have played inspired baseball.
