Billy Morf was a major contributor to the 5-4 Phoenix win over Minneapolis. The Thunderbirds left fielder went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Henry Escobedo, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Vikings to 2 runs on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. David Klontz closed it out for Phoenix, earning his 1st save.

Eddie Lucero came through for Phoenix when he hit a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike fastball to center field, staking his team to a 3-2 lead.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Lucero said.

Minneapolis, with the loss, is still a hardy 18-7.
