The Portland Dragons overcame a good performance by Alaska first baseman Lanny Tabares to knock off Alaska, 7-6, at Portland Park. Tabares was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Carlos Rodriguez snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. J.D. Haynes suffered the loss. Danny Monroy closed the door for Portland, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Had Jordan Flores not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Flores hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Dragons.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Flores.

The loss puts Alaska at 16-11.
