Thunderbirds Thwart Cyclones, 5-3
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds beat the Miami Cyclones, 5-3, at Kroger Stadium. Phoenix third baseman Min-yul Lee had an outstanding performance. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Sumiki Kono snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 1.1 innings. He's now 2-0 on the season. The save was credited to Alex Mendez, his 3rd.
With Phoenix leading 3-2 in the top of the seventh, Lee hit a 2-run single off Miami hurler Robert Rosas. It was the 25th hit of the season for Lee and put his team ahead, 5-2.
"It feels good, just a great win all around," Lee said after the game.
The Cyclones, now 11-18, continue their inauspicious start.
