5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Homer Hanes got his name recorded today, but the Los Angeles Stars picked up the win at Estadio Guillermón Moncada, topping the Santiago Avispas, 13-9.

"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Pat Kaers. "We were lucky to come out ahead."

Hanes, who is on pace for 105 RBI this season, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.

"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the first baseman said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."

Homer Hanes hit a solo-shot off Juan Fonseca in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Hanes on the season is hitting .261 with 6 home runs. His stats include 20 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
