Dragons Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Wolves, 3-2
|
The Portland Dragons took Vancouver pitcher Li-hong Ho's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Portland Park. The final score had Portland getting past the Wolves, 3-2. Ho went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 7. Portland reliever Ryan Mena picked up the win to move to 4-0. Francisco Estrada suffered the loss. With the win, Portland upped its record to 24-12.
The decisive blow was delivered by Tony Guerra in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 33-year old right-handed pitcher Manny Arango to win the game for Portland. The home crowd went nuts.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
