The exploits of right fielder Zahi Cobo, who finished 4th in the EC in doubles with 49 last year, helped the New York Titans defeat the Philadelphia Spectres, 4-2. Cobo went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. New York pitcher Ricardo Alas got the win, upping his record to 3-5. Seong-chin Weon got the loss. The Titans have an impressive 78-34 record.
New York used the timely hitting of Steve Czerw to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Titans on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Cobo told the New York Citizen.
