Spectres Flatten Titans, 9-4
|
Philadelphia and New York got after it at Sony Field at Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Spectres defeated the New York Titans, 9-4. Right Fielder Mike Rozar deserved a large share of the credit. Rozar was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Spectres. Philadelphia reliever Santos Lalin picked up the win, upping his record to 5-8. Jeong Lee took the loss.
The Titans had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Spectres going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old catcher Isamu Koizumi came to the plate. Koizumi hit a grand slam home run on a first pitch fastball from New York hurler Jeong Lee. It was Koizumi's 2nd home run of the year.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Koizumi, "one at-bat at a time."
The last-place Spectres improved to 50-63.
