Rangers Come Up Short at Cincinnati, 3-2
Fans watched the Cincinnati Twins and the Buffalo Rangers fight to the finish.

In a low-scoring contest between the Cincinnati Twins and the Buffalo Rangers, Macario Mendoza was the X factor. The Cincinnati right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Jose Caro earned his 5th save, after closing out the game.

Cincinnati took a 3-0 lead on Tim Champion's 27th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Champion hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Buffalo pitcher Si-dao Ci visibly frustrated.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Buffalo manager Alex Beckman. "But we decided not to take it."

The third-place Twins have a record of 54-63.
