Browns Stumble, Lose to Athletics
|
The Kansas City Athletics bested the Brooklyn Browns by a score of 8-3, with first baseman Matthew Hinojosa getting the main credit. On the day, Hinojosa went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Athletics. Roberto Rueda, who is tied for 7th in the WC in quality starts with 5, was the winner. He's now 3-2. The loser was Michel Verde. Kansas City is now 16-21.
With Kansas City trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the third, Hinojosa hit a changeup from Michel Verde for a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 4-3.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Hinojosa. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
