Vikings Suffer One-Run Loss at Cincinnati
|
The inspired effort of Minneapolis center fielder Sergio Justiniano was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-6, to the Cincinnati Twins. Justiniano was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Macario Mendoza, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-5. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Cincinnati has won 3 straight, while Minneapolis has lost 3 in a row.
In the bottom of the fourth, Cincinnati right fielder Willie Flores had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and no one out, Flores stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 7-4, Cincinnati. For the game, he was 2-5 with 2 singles.
"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Cincinnati manager Ryan Stoops.
